OK, got the socket server working (just reconnecting the old stuff really).
I'm a bit dubious about socketserver being linked to the gui, I've left it
like that for the moment as it's most similar to trunk, but we should
probably think about changing this at some point.
I also did a quick runthrough of all the examples and they seem OK in the
main (except for stuff I wouldn't expect to work, like NSShadow being
called in some of the colour examples).
