Argh, the bug tracker install has been always a bit faulty, but I could
never find a decent easy-to-install tracker.

Recently I've become really impressed by Github, which also provides a
very good issue tracker, and more than once I thought of considering
moving Shoebot there.

I've been a fan of Gitorious and wasn't really comfortable with Github,
but as it turns out Gitorious is only meant to host code, whereas Github
is really practical to host the needs of a project like Shoebot,
allowing us to place all the different parts into one main point (site,
documentation, wiki, bugtracker).

What does everyone think about a shift to Github? I can take care of
porting the existing issues in the tracker as well. I'm also okay with
letting things be if there's strong opinions against this move, but the
day-to-day maintenance of the different project parts is a big job that
I haven't been able to handle at all. Perhaps the move to Github could
make it easier for everyone else to contribute?

Wondering what you all think of this.

I agree. Although it saddens me having to change to a privative hosting
solution, github is really practical, and high quality. I also hope that it
might spur a larger community around, as of late most of the commits I see
in the codebase are from Stuart.

Ive been researching some ways to make the project more visible, and though
it is the topic of another post, one of the suggestions is to join github.

I agree as well. I've been using github for all my little projects, and
feel very comfortable with it.

The only similar libre solution is launchpad, which is libre only in license :(

I was chattting to gnu people about this and they had no strong
objections to using Github for GNU projects, so I suggest its ok

Well then, it's a decision!

I've added everyone in this thread as an owner with r/w access and full

Also got the bug tracker working again and ported the issues to Github:
https://github.com/shoebot/shoebot/issues

If everyone's ok with it, i'll just set up bugs.shoebot.net to redirect
here, and remove the existing tracker.
